On August 28, Zhu Zhongping, Deputy Secretary of the College's Party Committee, counselor Lei Xiaoke, and six engineering master's and doctoral students attended the opening ceremony for the 2025 enterprise practice program at China Rare Earth Group. Also in attendance were engineering graduate students and faculty representatives from Peking University, the University of Science and Technology of China, Lanzhou University, and Kunming University of Science and Technology. Liu Leiyun, Party Secretary and Chairman of China Rare Earth Group, and Yang Guoan, Deputy Party Secretary, Director, and Chairman of the Labor Union, were also present at the event.

At the meeting, Liu Leiyun delivered a keynote speech titled "The Power of Rare Earths and the Imperative of Talent." He emphasized that China Rare Earth Group today serves as a "strategic lever" reshaping the global industrial landscape. He noted that generations of Chinese rare earth professionals are writing a new chapter for the era-defining proposition: "The Middle East has oil; China has rare earths."He encouraged the students about to join the enterprise to immerse their academic spirit into the vibrant soil of practice, align laboratory standards with the pace of production lines, and infuse their youthful imagination into national strategies, aspiring to become the "strategic magnetic cores" of the nation. Following the ceremony, Liu Leiyun delivered the "First Lesson at the Enterprise" to all the master's and doctoral students.

Following the meeting, faculty and student representatives from the College held a "Face-to-Face Exchange between Enterprise and Academic Mentors" with representatives from China Rare Earth Group Innovation Technology Co., Ltd. The two sides engaged in in-depth discussions regarding student management upon joining the enterprise, the determination of research directions, the company's overview, training requirements, as well as frontier rare earth technologies. This dialogue provided solid support and guarantees for the engineering master's and doctoral students' enterprise practice.In the afternoon, the students traveled to Yudu—the birthplace of the Long March. Following in the footsteps of General Secretary Xi Jinping, they drew strength from their faith through a distinctive Party-building study tour themed "Red Roots, Green China," and stirred their patriotism within the epic narrative of the Long March, characterized as the "Great Expedition and the Leap of the Spark."

The successful holding of this opening ceremony has established an excellent platform for collaborative education between the university and the enterprise. Looking ahead, the College will continue to advance the reform of engineering master's and doctoral training. It is committed to constantly optimizing the training and service support systems, deepening the university-enterprise collaboration mechanism, and striving unremittingly to build a team of outstanding engineers who are patriotic, dedicated, possess exceptional technological innovation capabilities, and excel at solving complex engineering problems.
