On September 7, 2025, to further promote innovation in the cultivation mechanism for engineering master's and doctoral students, deepen the integration of industry and education as well as science and education, and strengthen university-enterprise collaborative education, the college held the "Deepening Industry-Education Integration, Jointly Cultivating Outstanding Talent" University-Enterprise Supervisor Meeting in Conference Room 4, Science and Education Building, Yuelu Mountain Campus. Academician Gui Weihua, Professor at Central South University and Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering; Academician Zhao Zhongwei, Professor at Central South University and Dean of the National Graduate College For Elite Engineers; Xu Kaihua, Chairman of GEM Co., Ltd.; Cao Qinghua, Executive Vice Dean of the Beihang University National Graduate College For Elite Engineers; Cao Xianghui, Vice Dean of the Southeast University National Graduate College For Elite Engineers; Feng Xue, Vice Dean of the Graduate School of China GRINM Group Co., Ltd.; as well as representatives from engineer technology center co-construction units, university-enterprise supervisors, division leaders from co-construction units, and members of the college leadership team—over 200 participants attended the meeting both online and offline. The opening ceremony was chaired by Cheng Qiongwen, Secretary of the Party Committee of the college.

In his address, Dean Zhao Zhongwei, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, emphasized his hope that all supervisors would work together, leverage the platform advantages of Central South University, give full play to university-enterprise and industry advantages, strengthen academic exchanges and intellectual collisions, and make joint efforts to cultivate outstanding engineer talent.
In his address, Chairman Xu Kaihua pointed out that outstanding engineers should possess comprehensive qualities including strong engineering design capabilities, communication skills, and foreign language proficiency. They should proactively face national strategic needs, serve the Belt and Road construction, assist enterprises in going global, and contribute to the brand export of Central South University and even Chinese higher education.
Sun Wei, Dean of the Graduate School, introduced the specific requirements for graduate student cultivation to attending guests and supervisors. Vice Dean Liu Fangyang introduced in detail the college's construction progress and future prospects.

At the meeting, the college held the Engineer Technology Center Plaque Presentation Ceremony and the Enterprise Supervisor Appointment Ceremony. Plaques were presented to 9 engineer technology center co-construction units including China National General Testing & Certification Co., Ltd. and SANY Group Co., Ltd.; appointment letters were issued to 44 enterprise experts including Huang Mingfa as enterprise supervisors.


Dean Zhao Zhongwei, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, and Vice Dean Chen Ailiang chaired the keynote presentation session. Academician Gui Weihua delivered a special report on "Artificial Intelligence and Large Models in the Nonferrous Metallurgy Vertical Domain," providing an in-depth analysis of the new situations and challenges of artificial intelligence in the nonferrous metallurgy field. Vice Dean Cao Qinghua introduced the exploration and practice of outstanding engineer cultivation, stating that the Beihang University National Graduate College For Elite Engineers systematically advances outstanding engineer cultivation through "five strengthenings," cultivating scientist-type chief engineers in major engineering innovation practices. Vice Dean Cao Xianghui introduced innovative practices and experience in outstanding engineer cultivation models, expressing his hope for continued experience sharing with sister institutions in fields such as engineering master's and doctoral talent cultivation, and jointly promoting the high-quality development of outstanding engineering talent cultivation. Vice Dean Feng Xue systematically introduced the development history and achievements of graduate education at GRINM Group Co., Ltd. from aspects including the general overview of GRINM General Research Institute, the overall situation of graduate education, and the cultivation of engineering master's and doctoral students.
The afternoon university-enterprise supervisor symposium was chaired by Vice Deans Chen Ailiang and Liu Fangyang. University-enterprise supervisors conducted in-depth discussions on six topics: "Construction and Development of the National Graduate College For Elite Engineers," "Organized Research and Supervisor Capability Enhancement," "Graduate Student Enrollment Plan Allocation," "Work-Study Alternation Cultivation Model," "Core Curriculum and Engineering Case Construction," and "Degree Application Based on Practical Achievements."
In the discussion and exchange, Vice Dean Chen Ailiang stated that the cultivation of outstanding engineers requires joint efforts from universities and enterprises, posing authentic production practice questions for students, creating authentic technology breakthrough projects, and building authentic engineering practice environments. Attending university-enterprise supervisors actively offered suggestions and recommendations regarding college construction and development, outstanding engineer cultivation reform, and university-enterprise cooperation mechanisms, jointly exploring new pathways and mechanisms for outstanding engineer cultivation.
This supervisor meeting systematically summarized the college's construction progress, clarified future development pathways, further consolidated university-enterprise consensus, and laid a solid foundation for building an outstanding engineer cultivation system with Chinese characteristics and world-class standards. In the future, the college will continue to deepen collaborative cooperation with well-known enterprises and research institutes in the industry, optimize resource allocation, innovate education mechanisms, and continuously contribute "Central South Power" to the construction of an education powerhouse, a science and technology powerhouse, and a talent powerhouse.
