To comprehensively implement the preparatory work for the Overseas National Graduate College For Elite Engineers, from July 19 to 20, 2025, Fu Ganghua, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Central South University, led a delegation of 7 people to conduct research at the Jingmen Park of GEM Co., Ltd. Both parties conducted in-depth exchanges on the joint construction of the Overseas National Graduate College For Elite Engineers.
Xu Kaihua, Chairman of GEM Co., Ltd.; Zhang Kun, Senior Vice General Manager; Xu Pengyun, Vice General Manager; Fu Ganghua, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Central South University; Sun Wei, Dean of the Graduate School; Wang Yuhui, Deputy Director of the Domestic Cooperation Office; and Chen Ailiang, Vice Dean of the National Graduate College For Elite Engineers, attended the research meeting.Deputy Secretary Fu Ganghua summarized the multifaceted cooperation achievements between Central South University and GEM Co., Ltd. in education funds, joint talent cultivation, and industry-education integration, which have effectively promoted the deep docking of the education chain, talent chain, industrial chain, and innovation chain. Dean Sun Wei provided a detailed interpretation of the "Five-Party Agreement on the Joint Construction of the China-Indonesia National Graduate College For Elite Engineers," focusing on explaining the cooperation entities, construction goals, cooperation models, and safeguard measures. Both parties carefully studied, revised, and refined the agreement content, ultimately reaching consensus.Chairman Xu Kaihua highly praised the previously established new model of tripartite joint talent cultivation among "Central South University, Indonesian Government, and GEM," affirmed the talent cultivation effectiveness of the Indonesia International Graduate Class, and stated that GEM Co., Ltd. will fully support the construction of the China-Indonesia National Graduate College For Elite Engineers.
The delegation led by Deputy Secretary Fu Ganghua successively visited national innovation platforms including the National "Urban Mine" Museum, the National Electronic Waste Recycling Engineering Technology Research Center, and the National Key Laboratory of Energy Metal Resources and New Materials, gaining in-depth understanding of GEM Co., Ltd.'s resource recycling practice of "turning waste into resources and transforming the decayed into the miraculous."
The delegation also entered the classroom of Indonesian international students (first-year graduate students), encouraging the international students to learn Chinese well and make positive contributions to deepening friendship and cooperation between China and Indonesia and to telling China's stories well.
During the Central South University Hubei Alumni Exchange session, Chairman Xu Kaihua stated that Central South University is the root of alumni and the driving force for alumni's progress. GEM Co., Ltd. should maintain close ties with its alma mater, and as President Li Jiancheng wishes, the university and enterprise should together "build a world-class university and create a world-class enterprise." Deputy Secretary Fu Ganghua reported to alumni on the university's achievements in disciplinary construction and talent cultivation in recent years, and highly affirmed the work of the Hubei Alumni Association, particularly the global contributions made by alumni in fields such as new energy, healthcare, and transportation. He encouraged all alumni to work together to contribute "Central South Alumni Power" to national prosperity, national rejuvenation, and people's happiness.
It is reported that since 2019, Central South University, the Indonesian government, and GEM Co., Ltd. have created a new "government-university-enterprise" tripartite joint talent cultivation model. Students spend their first year studying at Central South University, their second year undertaking project practice at GEM Co., Ltd.'s domestic and overseas enterprises, and their third year returning to Central South University to refine practical achievements and write their dissertations. After the first year of theoretical coursework, GEM Co., Ltd. hosts a three-month Chinese language training program. This cooperation model has cultivated 183 students and is both an outstanding practical case of Chinese engineering education "going global" and an important talent guarantee for promoting the "going global" of outstanding Chinese enterprises.
