To comprehensively advance the connotative development of national outstanding engineer cultivation, from July 8 to 9, 2025, a delegation led by Cheng Qiongwen, Secretary of the Party Committee, Chen Ailiang, Vice Dean, and Liu Fangyang, Vice Dean, conducted a special research visit to the Tianjin University National Graduate College For Elite Engineers.
Li Dachao, Executive Dean of the Tianjin University National Graduate College For Elite Engineers, Han Yuanbin, Vice Dean, and others attended the exchange symposium. At the meeting, both parties conducted in-depth discussions on core issues regarding the construction of an independent outstanding engineer talent cultivation system. They engaged in comprehensive exchanges on key work including college organizational structure establishment, enrollment mechanisms, supervisor selection, and curriculum system optimization.
Dean Li Dachao introduced in detail the explorations and practices of the Tianjin University National Graduate College For Elite Engineers in multi-party resource integration, characteristic curriculum system construction, and the university-enterprise joint supervisor selection system. Secretary Cheng Qiongwen spoke highly of the university-enterprise joint supervisor selection system, noting that it demonstrates Tianjin University's forward-thinking and innovative spirit in supervisor team construction, providing important reference for the college's high-quality advancement of outstanding engineer independent cultivation system construction. Vice Deans Chen Ailiang and Liu Fangyang respectively exchanged practical experiences with their counterparts on personnel echelon allocation, disciplinary construction, and enrollment work, combining the actual situation of their college.
In addition, the college delegation successively conducted research visits to the School of Materials Science and Engineering, the Department of Management and Economics, the School of Chemical Engineering, and the School of Environmental Science and Engineering at Tianjin University. They visited cutting-edge teaching and research platforms including the Teaching and Large-Scale Instrument Experimental Center, the Electrochemical Energy Storage Center, and the National Demonstration Center for Experimental Chemical Engineering and Chemistry Education, and held symposium exchanges. They learned valuable experiences from various units in teaching resource integration and practical teaching reform, laying a solid foundation for outstanding engineer cultivation.
The successful conduct of this special research visit provided extremely valuable experience for the college's subsequent work planning. The college will take this as an important opportunity to strengthen exchanges and cooperation with renowned universities, absorb advanced experiences, systematically integrate advantageous educational resources, and effectively advance the various tasks of outstanding engineer cultivation to a new level.
After the research visit, Chai Liyuan, President of Tianjin University, specially met with the research delegation. He encouraged the college delegation to further promote disciplinary development, enhance scientific research strength, and cultivate innovative talents through strengthened exchanges and cooperation among sister institutions.
